AI supremacy is the new arms race or space race. Countries are fighting tooth and nail to achieve it. The United States of America has taken the first step toward it. On Tuesday, President Donald Trump announced a major investment of a whopping $500 billion to build and improve the country’s AI infrastructure, with the help of banking giant SoftBank, cloud space company Oracle, and AI pioneer OpenAI.
Trump announced in remarks at the White House that the venture will be called Stargate and “will invest $500 billion, at least, in AI infrastructure in the United States. ” He added, “This monumental undertaking is a resounding declaration of confidence in America’s potential.”
During his announcement in the White House, the CEO of all three companies, Masayoshi Son, Larry Ellison and Sam Altman, were present during the announcement. The CEO of Softbank, Masayoshi Son, said that they initially plan to invest around $100 billion and will invest the remaining $400 over the next four years.
