Moments after the 47th President of the United States of America, Donald Trump’s swearing-in ceremony, Bitcoin, the biggest cryptocurrency in the world, surged close to its all-time high. Before now, the cryptocurrency was within the $90,000 range and soon after the swearing-in ceremony, the first lady launched her very own crypto currency, meme coin, which catapulted the value of Bitcoin back to $108,899, almost as much as its all-time high.
Bitcoin’s market cap also jumped to $2.04 trillion, up almost 176% from $774 billion last year. The coin has been on an upward trajectory since Trump won the public’s nod in the 2024 presidential elections, growing from around $75,000 in the first week of November to now. Moreover, the ceremony and the fact that the First Lady herself is venturing into the crypto industry have made investors very optimistic about the future of crypto in America and in the world in general.

Moreover, President Trump is also expected to create a crypto advisory council to voice policy priorities for the cryptocurrency market. This is evident by the fact that on January 18, the president himself launched a meme coin, $TRUMP, which gained quite a bit of attention and quickly reached a market cap of $15 billion. However, the coin did experience some volatility, surged to over $75, and now firmly sits at around $53.
