Dustin Moskovitz, the CEO of Asana, a software company, and one of the original founders of Facebook, is retiring from his position.
The company announced its departure as a part of the fiscal fourth-quarter earnings report, and the board has retained its search for a new CEO. Moskovitz notified the company’s board “of his intention to transition to the role of Chair when a new CEO begins.”
“As I reflect on my journey since co-founding Asana nearly 17 years ago, I’m filled with immense gratitude,” Moskovitz stated. “Creating and leading Asana has been more than just building a company — it’s been a profound privilege to work alongside some of the most talented minds in the industry.”
Moskovitz holds approximately 53% of Asana’s outstanding shares, combining his Class A and Class B holdings. His ownership has significantly grown since the company went public in 2020.
His total net worth is more than $16 billion, according to Forbes, which is mostly because of his early Facebook stake.
Upon his retirement, Moskovitz said he plans to focus on his philanthropic endeavors, including Good Ventures and Open Philanthropy.
